WSDOT announced multiple lane closures on I-5 and I-405 beginning Monday, Aug. 31, through Friday, Sept. 4. The most significant closures include up to four lanes of northbound I-405 from milepost 11.5 to 13.7, and two lanes of northbound I-405 from milepost 7 to 8.5, both closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
I-5 will see single-lane reductions from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly near Alger/Lake Samish Road (exit 240) and north of North Lake Samish (exit 246) for fish passage construction. A detour will be in place for the I-90 off-ramp to Factoria Boulevard, and State Route 20 will alternate traffic with flaggers daily except weekends for Anacortes utility work.
The I-5 fish passage construction project, which extends until Sept. 10, aims to improve fish migration. The I-405 and I-90 closures are part of ongoing infrastructure work. WSDOT urges drivers to allow extra travel time and follow detour signs.
