Pasco Sheriff's Office Hosts Prescription Take Back Event

JoinPSO.com OCTOBER 2026 News.PascoSheriff.com An effective agency doesn’t just react to events; it prepares for them. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office stays proactive year-round with the assistance of our Emergency Management Division. Large-scale emergencies, such as natural disasters and significant criminal incidents, require substantial resources and personnel. The Emergency Management Division provides structure by coordinating the response, resources, and communication on-scene. During National Preparedness Month and throughout hurricane season, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office shares tips to help our citizens develop an emergency plan. We also want to highlight how our agency prepares for active emergencies. Read this month’s article, which outlines the various components of our Emergency Management Division, including our Incident Command Unit, Deployable Emergency Response Team, and Situation Awareness Room. CONVERSATION WITH A FORENSIC INVESTIGATOR Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a forensic investigator? Now’s your chance to find out! Last month, we celebrated National Forensic Science Week by featuring our forensic investigators on social media and our news site. Put on your gloves, grab your magnifying glasses, and enjoy our recent article: “Conversation with a Forensic Investigator.” The cat distribution system strikes again! Pasco Sheriff’s Office Community Engagement Unit recently rescued an abandoned kitten found in a parking lot. While our deputies were getting supplies for the kitten at a local pet store, an employee saw the cuteness and couldn’t resist taking it home. The collective efforts to rescue and care for the kitten remind us of the power of teamwork. Nowadays, forming personal connections happens online just as much as in person. Although these digital relationships may appear safer at first, that is not always the case. This month, Pasco Sheriff’s Office is providing information about a serious crime called “sextortion.” Known as an online exploitation scheme, criminals will coerce or blackmail their victims to acquire sexual content, to engage in sex, or to obtain money. We urge citizens to be aware of the common tactics criminals use in these cases and how to respond to criminal blackmail.
