PSO Updates School Safety, Deepfake Scams

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Pasco Sheriff's Office (PSO) released new school safety resources and warnings about AI deepfake scams in its August 2026 community update. The PSO highlighted its K9 unit's recent hoist training with the U. S. Coast Guard, which began in 2021, to enhance search and recovery operations. The office also provided indicators of deepfake scams, including requests for immediate payments via wire transfer or gift cards, and unrealistic video movements in impersonation attempts. Residents are urged to report suspected scams to PSO's Crime Tips Line at 1-800-706-2488 or online at pascosheriff.com/tips.
