WSDOT announced lane closures and detours for several Tri-Cities area highways beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 11. The most significant change is a full closure of SR 224 (Van Giesen) between Keene Road and Paradise Way in West Richland until Sept. 30, 2026, with detours using local roads.
Other changes include temporary lane closures on SR 224 between 62nd and Grosscup Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily through Friday, and flag-controlled traffic on SR 225 north of Benton City on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Chip seal work on SR 241 north of Sunnyside will cause alternating traffic Monday through Friday through Sept. 11 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents should plan for delays on these routes during the specified times. WSDOT notes all work is for construction and maintenance projects. The agency provides real-time updates at wsdot.wa.gov.
