WSDOT announced multiple highway construction and closure updates for the Tri-Cities area effective this week. A single lane of SR 534 will close with alternating traffic from 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 through 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 to complete paving between I-5 and SR 9.
SR 169 will close both directions for 35 days starting Aug. 17 near Jones Lake for fish barrier removal, with detours in place. Meanwhile, I-405 will be fully closed northbound from 11:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10. Other closures include SR 96 for utility work and SR 20 for maintenance.
The closures affect daily commutes and travel routes through the Tri-Cities region. WSDOT advises drivers to allow extra time and follow detour signs. Most closures will end by Aug. 16, with the longest lasting until Sept. 21.
